The electric car that won the American Solar Challenge will be in Piazza Cavour on October 4th until 6pm
It has covered more than 3,400 kilometers along the American roads, winning the coveted 'American Solar Challenge', a race reserved for electric cars and today it is here in Rimini. This is 'Emilia 4', the solar car designed and built by the University of Bologna with the involvement of Ciri Meccanica Avanzata and Materiali and the Ciri Aeronautica with the support of several companies and research centers, including the Center of super calculation of the Cineca and the SCM group of Rimini.
The vehicle developed by the Bolognese Onda Solare team, is different from other electric cars, for the part related to consumption: Emilia 4 uses in fact an amount of energy comparable to that of a hair dryer (1,200 watts). It is driven by two electric motors placed inside the wheels, and is powered by five square meters of high-performance solar panels connected to lithium batteries of the latest generation.
Emilia 4 is the winning result of an industrial research project financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region thanks to the European Funds (Por Fesr 2014-2020), and has been developed and built entirely in-house by the University of Bologna and the Onda Solare team .
This result is the best demonstration of how public bodies, professionals and companies can collaborate in a profitable way for innovation, direction towards which the Tecnopolo di Rimini works actively.
It will be possible to see Emilia 4 today 4 October, in Rimini, in Piazza Cavour in front of Palazzo dell'Arengo until 6.00 pm.
